MANILA (UPDATE) - Former Zambales Governor Vicente Magsaysay passed away Monday.
He was 80 years old.
Magsaysay's daughters, Angel and Mary Rose, took to social media to bid farewell to their father.
The local government of Iba, Zambales also announced Magsaysay's demise through its Facebook page.
Iba Mayor Rundy Ebdane, Vice Mayor Irenea Binan and the rest of the council also expressed their condolences to the Magsaysay family.
Popularly known as GoVic, Magsaysay was first elected as governor of Zambales at the age of 27. He was in office from 1967 to 1986, and again in 1998 to 2007.
He is a nephew of former President Ramon Magsaysay.
Magsaysay is survived by his four children.
