MANILA - Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Friday said she may be the real target of the videos linking her brother Paolo to the illegal drug trade.
"You can see the people that are being mentioned in the videos: it's my brother who is connected to me, my sister who is connected to me, it's an associate lawyer who is connected to me, and it is my brother-in-law who is connected to me. In the next episode, it will be my husband who is connected to me," she told reporters in Cagayan de Oro.
The President's daughter said the video did not affect the family and that they did not even bother to talk about it.
"It is best na siya (Paolo) lang ang mag-comment. So far nakita ko 'yung dalawang video that is not worthy of a comment kasi malinaw sa episode 1 pa lang may mga hindi totoo sa istorya," she said.
(It is best if Paolo is the one who makes a comment. So far, I saw the two videos that are not worthy of a comment, because episode 1 clearly shows false stories.)
A video uploaded online earlier linked the former vice mayor and Agriculture Assistant Secretary Waldo Carpio to an illegal drug ring. Carpio is a sibling of the mayor's husband Manases Carpio.
President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday denied that his son is involved in the illegal drug trade and said his political enemies were behind the viral video.
The President's son, who is running for representative of Davao City's first district in May's midterm elections, has accused Sen. Antonio Trillanes of being behind the video.
Trillanes, however, said he had no hand in making the videos but he congratulates the people who made them.
