MANILA - The Quezon City government on Wednesday reported 23 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the city, raising the total to 174.
The new cases were recorded in barangays Bagong Pag-asa, Bahay Toro, Del Monte, San Isidro Labrador, Siena, Batasan Hills, Bagong Silangan, Holy Spirit, Matandang Balara, Botocan, Central, Damayang Lagi, Immaculate Conception, Roxas, Santol, Tatalon, Fairview, Culiat, New Era, Pasong Tamo, and Talipapa.
No new fatalities and recoveries were reported.
The total number of deaths remain at 27, with 11 recoveries.
Eighteen barangays in the city have been placed under extreme enhanced community quarantine.
In an effort to contain the virus, decontamination efforts are ongoing in different barangays, city officials said.
As of Wednesday, a total of 142 barangays were disinfected.
President Rodrigo Duterte has placed the country under a state of public health emergency because of the COVID-19 global pandemic.
The health department has tallied 2,311 cases of COVID-19 nationwide, with 96 fatalities and 50 recoveries.
