MANILA - The Philippine National Police (PNP) has stepped up security in commercial establishments and public places, such as bus terminals and seaports, for the Holy Week and summer vacation.

PNP spokesperson Bernard Banac said they will put up police assistance desks and will designate road safety marshals nationwide.

Some 8,000 police personnel will be mobilized in different parts of the country.

Banac asked the public to cooperate with authorities.

The PNP will also monitor parties held in bars, clubs, and resorts, which could be used to peddle party drugs.

The PNP also warned the youth to avoid accepting drinks from strangers, which could be laced with drugs.

Records from the police also show that crimes related to akyat-bahay and salisi increase during summer vacation.

Banac reminded the public to secure their belongings in resorts and restaurants.

“Hindi lang basta natin dapat inilalagay sa mesa o open area,” he said.

Banac also urged the public to refrain from posting their vacation plans on social media.

To report any incident, the PNP may be reached through Twitter, Facebook or ITXT Mo Kay Oca hotline 09178475757.
