MANILA - In a bid to improve the traffic situation and provide ease in travel, the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) launched on Thursday a text hotline that would cater to motorists' concerns.
The public may now report traffic and travel-related concerns to the text hotline 7444-474 following this format: "HPG" [space] "message that includes the location, time, and description."
"The text hotline completes the traffic enforcement component of our Campaign Plan Disiplinadong Driver," HPG director Chief Supt. Arnel Escobal said.
Motorists are encouraged to report traffic violators, abusive traffic enforcers, 'carnapping' incidents and road safety concerns through text.
"Noong una kasi, wala pa kaming hotline, we rely on TXT Bato. Medyo natatagalan makarating sa amin ang information kasi these are being filtered," Escobal added.
Motorists who will send messages to the hotline will be charged a peso per text and will receive an automatically generated message before a more thorough reply to their concern.
