MANILA - A Catholic priest was arrested for acts of lasciviousness inside the detention facility of the Bureau of Immigration in Camp Bagong Diwa Tuesday.
American priest Kenneth Pius Hendricks has been previously arrested by Immigration officials and the United States Homeland Security officials on December 6, 2018 in Biliran for charges of engaging in illicit sex with a minor in a foreign country issued by the US District Court for the District of Ohio.
According to National Capital Region Police Office Chief, Guillermo Eleazar, the arrest warrant for charges of acts of lasciviousness in the Philippines has just been released.
"Well para sa atin, wala naman tayong sini-sino. Kahit sinong mag-violate ng ating batas, kailangan natin i-enforce ang batas natin. Kaya sa atin whether kung saan man siyang sektor o organisasyon kabilang, as long as may violation ng batas at may warrant of arrest, gagawin natin," he said.
(In our case, we don't choose [who to arrest]. We enforce the law against whoever violates our law. It doesn't matter which sector or organization he is part of, as long as he violates the law and there is a warrant of arrest, we will enforce it.)
Eleazar added that at least 50 sacristans claimed to have been victimized by Hendricks in his 5-decade stay in the country.
Hendricks is now under the custody of the Special Operations Unit.
He refused to comment on the allegations against him.
