MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte has signed a law allowing Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) to install and operate private telecommunications services for another 25 years.
Duterte signed on Feb. 14 Republic Act 11219, a copy of which was released by the Palace on Tuesday.
The law allows the religious sect to construct, establish, install, maintain, lease, purchase, operate and carry on a private telecommunications or electronic communications services throughout the Philippines and between the Philippines and other countries and territories for another 25 years.
The President also signed on Jan. 18 RA 11193 which grants a franchise to the Malindang Broadcasting Network Corp.
The Ermita Electronics Incorporated, presently known as G. Telecoms, was also granted franchise extension for another 25 years through RA 11204, signed by the President on Feb. 14.
