MANILA - A footbridge in Quezon City that appears to be blocked by utility cables in a viral video is not yet open to the public, the Metro Manila Development Authority said Sunday.

Footage of the pedestrian overpass on the corner of Mindanao and Congressional Avenues showed what appeared to be utility cables blocking the path on the structure's upper part. The video, which was posted on Facebook last Feb. 14, has racked up 561 comments and over 13,000 shares.

"Ito pong footbridge na ito, hindi pa bukas. May harang po yan," MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia told DZMM Teleradyo.

(This footbridge is still closed. There's a barrier there.)

He also accused the people who posted the video of malice.

"Tinanggal yung harang, dumaan sila at vinideo."

(They removed the barrier, passed through and took a video.)

MMDA engineers have been trying to identify the owners of the utility cables since the start of the construction of the footbridge, he said.

The owners will have until Thursday next week to remove the cables, he said.

"Pag hindi nila tinanggal yan, kami na mismo ang puputol d'yan," he warned.

(If they don't remove these cables, we will cut them.)
