MANILA - Government prosecutors ruled on Friday that a consultant for the left and his companion were "lawfully arrested" and there was enough evidence for them to stand trial for illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
Police apprehended National Democratic Front of the Philippines consultant Rafael Baylosis and Roque Guillermo in Quezon City on Wednesday. Two .45-caliber pistols and a grenade were recovered from the duo.
Inquest prosecutor Nilo Peñaflor recommended no bail for the illegal possession of explosives case and a P120,000 bail bond for illegal possession of firearms.
Baylosis' arrest came two months after President Rodrigo Duterte scrapped peace talks with the NDFP, the negotiating wing of the leftists movement, due to alleged ceasefire violations.
