Some 1,834 grams of shabu was concealed inside 4 cans of wafers from Nevada, USA. Handout

MANILA - Some P12 million worth of illegal drugs were seized at the Port of Clark in Pampanga last Tuesday, the Bureau of Customs said Friday.

Around 1,834 grams of shabu was found inside 4 cans of wafers from Nevada, USA that were declared to contain "candy" and "baby clothes," the BOC said in a statement.

It was the second major drug haul at the Pampanga port this month.

A suspect, whose identity was not released, was arrested Friday, while the drugs were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Luzon on Thursday.

The BOC has issued warrants of seizure and detention for the shipment for violating the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) and the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The development comes after P136.9 million worth of shabu and P3.798 million worth of high-grade marijuana or kush were seized earlier this month.

As of this posting, the Port of Clark said it has seized a total of P153 million worth of drugs under Customs Commissioner Rey Guerrero, who was named to the BOC helm in October.
