MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday led the turnover of some 100 housing units in Bulacan to police officers and soldiers wounded in the line of duty.
The beneficiaries received two 24-square meter residential units each in Pleasant View Residences, Barangay Graceville, San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan. This is under the Comprehensive Social Benefits Program.
The 6-hectare Pleasant View Residences has 1,788 low-rise units intended for the housing of soldiers wounded-in-action (WIA), policemen wounded-in-police-operations (WIPO) and informal settlers from Metro Manila. The area has a covered multi-purpose center, a livelihood and training center, and a material recovery facility.
In his speech, Duterte thanked the beneficiaries for their heroism and sacrifice for the country.
“Ito namang sa sundalo because I saw it with my own eyes. The suffering and agony of a soldier of the republic. And I thought that maski na papaano, we can make things easier for them. At least life a better, a bit comfortable --- dahil nga may pinsala,” Duterte said.
The President also ordered the National Housing Authority to lower the monthly amortization for the partially wounded beneficiaries. Payment is set at P225 instead of P1,250.
“Kung ayaw mo magbayad, wala naman magkolekta. ‘Pag may magkolekta, i-cock mo ‘yung M-16 mo,” Duterte said. “Ganun lang naman ‘di ba? Well I hope that this will go a long way to alleviate the situation.”
