Vendors' groups oppose road clearing

Rotten vegetables lie on the road after being thrown by members of vendor’s groups at the gate of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) headquarters in Quezon City on Thursday during a protest against the department’s order for local government units to clear road obstruction, including vending stalls, which they say adversely affects their livelihood. The DILG’s order comes as massive traffic jams have hit the metro, costing the country some P3.5 billion daily, according to a study by the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
