MANILA -- Miss Universe Philippines 2019 Gazini Ganados flew to the United States on Tuesday morning in a bid to keep the crown for the country in the much-awaited Miss Universe pageant.
Speaking exclusively to "Umagang Kay Ganda," Ganados said she is ready to win the crown again, held year-long by the Philippines' Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.
"Alam ko na patuloy niyo akong ginagabayan ng dasal. Maraming maraming salamat sa inyong suporta!" Ganados told her supporters.
Roughly 20-30 sets of attire and 15 pairs of shoes have been prepared for 9 days of pageant activities to be held in Los Angeles.
But among the things she has packed in her luggage, she considers one item to be her lucky charm.
"I'm bringing a small image of the Santo Nino, which was passed on to me by former Binibining Pilipinas candidates from Cebu. They won," said Ganados, who hails from Cebu.
The beauty queen is excited to bring her Phoenix walk in the pageant stage.
Asked about her national costume, Ganados only gave hints on how it would look like. "It will have a touch of our national bird!" she said.
If ever she wins, she will be the fifth Miss Universe from the Philippines and third in this decade, after Pia Wurtzbach in 2015 and Catriona Gray in 2018.
The coronation night will be on December 8, US time and December 9, Philippine time.
