Margie Moran, dismayado sa sexual harassment sa beauty pageant

MAYNILA -- Nagbigay saloobin si Miss Universe 1973 Margarita Moran-Floirendo sa mainit na usapin ng sexual harassment sa mga beauty pageant.

Kasunod ito ng naging reklamo ng ilang kandidata ng Miss Earth 2018 sa naging karanasan nilang pang-aabuso umano sa Miss Earth na ginanap dito sa Pilipinas.

"It’s really awful you know... its sounds really terrible," tugon ng former Miss Universe sa ABS-CBN News. 

Ayon pa sa dating Miss Universe, walang isyu ng sexual harassment noong panahon na sumali siya sa pageant.

"I’ve not heard any victims of sexual harassment in so many years. This is the first time," sabi pa niya. 

Hayagan din na ibinahagi ng former Miss Universe ang kanyang gagawin kung sakaling naranasan niya ito noong kanyang panahon sa Miss Universe.

"Sisipain ko siya (laughs)," pabirong tugon niya.

"But you know, I don't really know in the past kasi if there’s sexual harassment. It’s only now women are very vocal also. It could have happened in the past but we didn’t know," sabi pa niya.

"But now women are more different... Dati kasi we don’t have any protection against sexual harassment," patuloy pa ng former Miss Universe.

Ayon pa kay Margie, tama lang na naging vocal ang mga kandidata sa naging pang-aabuso na naranasan nila.

"Definitely tama, they should speak out. It's violence against women and it’s a law so women are protected these days already," ani Margie.
