MANILA -- Rustic Mornings by Isabelo is celebrating its anniversary with a P600 one-day only buffet on Friday, November 16.

It has been six years since Rustic Mornings opened shop in a quiet corner of Marikina, and since then, the quaint restaurant of self-taught chef Portia Baluyut has cemented its position as one of the city’s favorite restaurants, specializing in her style of comfort food.

This translates to an extensive menu filled with breakfast dishes from omelets and heavenly pancakes, to pastas, rice dishes, as well as cakes.

On a recent brunch for selected media, guests were treated to the bestsellers that have propelled the success of Rustic Mornings, as well as tastings of their new product, and Christmas offerings.

Use the grilled panini to scoop out this delicious gooey dip.

Filipino favorites

From beef tapa and tocino to breaded boneless bangus, Rustic Mornings has got you covered with garlic rice and a fried egg to match. Group platters are also available with the works!

Health buffs will love the smoothie bowls section of Rustic Mornings menu. For something colorful and filling, the Acai bowl is filled with the superfruit and topped with even more fruit like kiwi and bananas, with an extra dose of energy from chia seeds.

Rice Bowls

There’s something for everyone here at Rustic Mornings, especially if you’re hankering for rice. Besides the breakfast silog fare, there’s Rustic Morning’s rice bowls that feature a more global taste. Must-tries are the melt-in-your-mouth beef ribs stewed in tomato sauce, the very accessible Spanish callos (not too much paprika in this one), and the kofta balls—spiced meatballs in a sweet curry coconut sauce.

Tinapa Burito

One of the more creative dishes in the menu, the Tinapa Burito was one of my favorite finds in the restaurant. Who knew garlic rice with tinapa in a crispy tube would be this delicious? And while there’s sour cream sauce on hand, this author much preferred eating these with a generous dousing of vinegar.

French toast, pancakes and waffles

Mornings are so much better with Rustic Mornings’ pancakes, French toast, and waffles. Fluffy and light pancakes, French toast nicely brown and dripping in syrup, and crispy waffles, you can’t go wrong having these with just butter and syrup, or enjoy them with the many combinations available in the restaurant. They sell their pancake mix for a delicious reason.

Party trays

Be the life of the party by bringing a tray of Aglio Olio or Dee Heirloom Pasta, or keep things saucy with dishes like the beef ribs and the tomato curry kofta Balls. These Rustic Mornings party trays can serve 10 up to 15 people. No minimum required, just call in advance.

Continuing on the success of last year’s Christmas breakfast baskets, Rustic Mornings brings back its three pancake baskets which feature their pancake mix, signature syrup, coffee, and strawberry jam.

Rustic Mornings’ new product doesn’t scrimp on the good stuff. A bite has the rich taste of lemon-tinged cream cheese, and a generous amount of fresh blueberries. It’s a cake fit for a queen.

Reservations for the anniversary buffet will be accepted until Wednesday, November 14, only. There will be three seatings starting at 8 a.m.
