MANILA – Aside from Bea Patricia “Patch” Magtanong, there was another Filipina in Miss International 2019.
Kylie Verzosa, who was crowned Miss International in 2016, was tapped to become a backstage host in this year’s pageant.
She had the opportunity to interview the Top 8 finalists, which include Magtanong.
“What do you think has been more difficult, passing the Bar exam or here competing in Miss International?” Verzosa asked.
To which Magtanong replied: “That’s a very difficult question… I would have to say beauty pageant was harder for me because I had training for four years to study… Actually, my whole life I’ve been studying.”
“In law school, to succeed you have to work hard and to study,” she went on. “But here in beauty pageants, there are so many factors – your walk, your makeup, your hair, and even how you socialize with other people. It took me so long to learn it, and I only had a few months so I would definitely say that it’s harder.”
As of writing, the coronation event is still ongoing in Tokyo, Japan and is being shown live on the Facebook and YouTube pages of Miss International.
Magtanong is aiming to become the Philippines’ seventh Miss International after Verzosa.
