It’s the mid of October and that means a mix of Halloween horror, Oktoberfest and a few other things in between. If you’re looking for things to do this weekend, we’ve lined up a number of suggestions for you. These are not endorsed by ABS-CBN News.

1. Intramuros Investigation II (After-Dark Mystery Bike Hunt)

When: October 19, 20, 25, 26, 30, and 31, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: Intramuros, Manila

Halloween is just around the corner and the Walled City of Manila is ready for it with the second Intramuros Investigation After-Dark Mystery Bike Hunt. Get to the bottom of strange and scary occurrences within the walls of the old-world city of Intramuros. Presented by Bambike Ecotours, Mystery Manila, and Intramuros Administration, the event invites the brave to explore this historical landmark as paranormal investigators out to solve mysteries surrounding eerie characters lurking in the dark, hiding in places not known to many. Investigate mysteries by scouring Intramuros after dark and getting exclusive access to never before seen areas.

2. Pinoy Playlist Music Festival 2019 (Weekend 2)

When: October 18 to 20, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Where: BGC Arts Center

If you missed it last week, you can still catch the second leg of Pinoy Playlist Music Festival. Co-curated by National Artist for Music Maestro Ryan Cayabyab, Moy Ortiz and Noel Ferrer, the music festival celebrates the evolving nature of Filipino music across various genres and generations. Among those performing this weekend include Jim Paredes and Boboy Garovillo of the pop group Apo Hiking Society; comedian singer Jon Santos; local rocker, Ebe Dancel; stage musical singer actress Joanna Ampil; rock band Imago; vocal group The Company and many more.

3. QCinema Festival (Weekend 2)

When: October 18 to 22
Where: Gateway Cinema 10, Robinsons Movieworld, Trinoma, UPFI Cine Adarna, Cinema '76 Anonas,
Cinema Centenario

If you like discovering movie gems, you ought to see the selection presented at this year’s QCinema. Now on its 7th year, QCinema is the official film festival of Quezon City, the country’s City of the Stars.
Close to 80 movies from local and foreign film makers and producers will be screened across participating theaters to celebrate the active role of the city in Philippine filmmaking industry.
4. Brocka, Bernal and the City Exhibit

When: October 18 to 22, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: Gateway Gallery 5f Gateway mall

A special exhibit dedicated to two progressive Filipino filmmakers will be restaged this weekend, to celebrate how they chose to resist the Martial Law and Marcos dictatorship through their craft. “Brocka, Bernal and the City” rebuilds the city of Manila, recreating the two masterpiece movies of Lino Brocka (1975’s “Maynila sa Kuko ng mga Liwanag”) and Ishmael Bernal (1980’s “Manila by Night”). The exhibit first ran during the first half of 2019 at Benilde's School of Design and Arts Gallery as part of CSB’s 30th anniversary and the 100th anniversary of Philippine Cinema. It is recurated at the Gateway Gallery this weekend as part of the QCinema Festival.

5. Makati FitFest

When: October 19 to 20, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: Globe Circuit events ground

Makati City is hosting its first-ever fitness festival this weekend in a two-day event that highlights the latest in all things fitness and wellness. Billed as the city’s biggest health and wellness event, Makati Fitfest will be staging a number of fitness activities, a nutrition clinic, and a health and wellness market. Admission is free.

6. Bitter than B4 (Ampalaya Monologues)

When: October 19, 7:00 p.m.
Where: PETA Theater, New Manila, Quezon City

Romantics (hopeless or otherwise) are invited to watch “Bitter than B4” (Ampalaya Monologues). Inspired by Vagina Monologues, the Ampalaya Monologues is an episodic play that aims to explore the human mysteries of love and the bitterness that comes with believing in its fantasies. It tells the real stories of individuals who have tasted the bitter truths of unrequited love. Now on its fourth year, the Ampalaya Monologues will bring you a new collection of equally or perhaps even more bitter monologues about love or lack thereof.

7. Canon PhotoMarathon

When: October 19, 9:00 a.m.
Where: SM Music Hall, Mall of Asia

Canon Philippines is hosting its biggest on-the-spot photography competition in Asia, the Canon PhotoMarathon 2019. This year’s event theme is a celebration of the distinct aesthetic variations found in the country. From the Filipino word "SIPAT" which means "to look" or "to see", the contest is challenging participants to look beyond the usual. Students, professionals and aspiring photographers are welcome to join. Kids too can improve their craft by participating in the Kids Photography Workshop & Mini PhotoMarathon.

8. Tiendesitas’ Beer Festival

When: October 18 to 19, 4:00 p.m.
Where: Level 2 Buildling B, Food Village, Tiendesitas

Tiendesitas is joining the International Oktoberfest celebration with its first ever Beer Festival. A collaboration between Ortigas Malls and the Philippine Craft Beer Community, it features an amazing beer selection from 50 different breweries – all in one venue. Come and discover and enjoy a wide assortment of imported, local, and Philippine craft beers.
