It could be a wet weekend for some parts of the country thanks to the prevailing southwest monsoon, but it will still be a busy one with a number of exciting activities lined up nationwide.
Here are nine events and places to consider. These are not endorsed by ABS-CBN News.
1. BATMAN DAY
When: September 21
Where: Fully Booked Bonifacio High Street
Binge-watch the best films of the caped crusader, play board games inspired by the comic book character, or join workshops to learn how to sketch your own Batman.
For younger kids, there’s also a storytelling session. Collectors, meanwhile, can get free Batman Day special edition comic books until supplies last.
2. INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEANUP DAY, NATIONAL CLEANUP DAY
When: September 21
Calling all eco-warriors! Simultaneous events are happening this September 21 across the country to help clean our land areas and waterways.
Among the key participating localities are Times Beach in Davao City, Maribago in Lapu-lapu City in Cebu, Pinaculan Island in Sorsogon, and Calamba City in Laguna.
3. CITI VERTICAL RUN
When: September 22, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Shangri-la at The Fort, Taguig City
The race to the top of Shangri-La at the Fort in Taguig City covers 59 floors and 1,353 steps to a height of 250 meters.
Beginners can enjoy the Fun Climb which covers just 22 floors, while intermediate runners can try going up 39 floors for the Horizon Challenge.
Athletes, meanwhile, can take on the whole 59-floor challenge solo or as part of a 4-person team.
4. NEW YORK FILM ACADEMY MEET
When: September 21
Where: Location will be released upon RSVP
The New York Film Academy (NYFA) is conducting auditions, portfolio reviews and information sessions in Manila.
The auditions and portfolio reviews offer applicants an opportunity to demonstrate their skills to NYFA’s admissions representatives to see if they are eligible for a talent-based tuition discount at the academy.
The information sessions, meanwhile, offer individuals an opportunity to learn about NYFA’s programs, locations, and enrollment process.

5. DUTDUTAN 2019
When: September 20 to 21, 7 a.m. to 12 midnight
Where: World Trade Center Manila
The country’s biggest annual tattoo event returns this weekend to celebrate the art of getting inked.
Jinri Park, Rocksteddy, Kjwan, and Greyhoundz will also grace the occasion.
6. PHILIPPINE INTERNATIONAL DIVE EXPO
When: September 20 to 22
Where: Conrad Hotel, Pasay City
The Philippines’ marine biodiversity and premier dive sites will take center stage as the Department of Tourism holds the country’s first and only international dive event.
More than 30 international and local dive speakers and advocates will share their insights and expertise on new and creative approaches in the areas of sustainable diving, marine science, and responsible underwater photography and videography in a series of interactive seminars and presentations.
Attending as well are record-holding divers, professional mermaids, and certified instructors.
7. WORLD WELLNESS WEEKEND
When: September 21 to 22
Where: Edsa Shangri-La
Edsa Shangri-La has lined up a number of activities for the international celebration of health and well-being.
Learn about sleep wellness from a medical expert and attend meditation classes, or run with Coach Rio around the Ortigas area on September 22.
8. PUPPY PAWTRAITS SESSION
When: September 22, 1 p.m
Where: Eastwood Mall
In celebration of Responsible Pet Ownership Day on September 22, Bark Central at the Eastwood Mall together with Sweet Escape are holding Puppy Pawtraits photo sessions.
Registered pets and pet parents will enjoy unlimited shots for 20 minutes, and one-hour use of the dog park.
9. BULAWAN: CCP 50TH ANNIVERSARY CONCERT
When: September 21, 8 p.m.
Where: Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (CCP Main Theater)
As a way of giving back to the Filipino people who have supported the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) over the past 50 years, the country’s premier art institution will make the Balcony 1 and Balcony II tickets of the People’s Gala affordable at P100 and P50 each, respectively.
Directed by award-winning director Loy Arcenas, the People’s Gala features artists who have been part of CCP in the past 50 years.
Among them are the resident companies Ballet Philippines, Philippine Ballet Theater, Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, Tanghalang Pilipino, Bayanihan Philippine National Folk Dance Company, Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group, UST Symphony Orchestra, NAMCYA, and Philippine Madrigal Singers.
