MANILA -- Maxine Medina confirmed on Wednesday that Kylie Verzosa has apologized for accidentally spitting on her while filming a scene for "Los Bastardos."
During the press conference for the "Los Bastardos" finale, Medina said her fellow beauty queen-turned-actress said sorry four days after the incident.
Para if ever na may mangyari na hindi kanais-nais ay kaya nating mag-sorry right after," she told members of the media during the event, which was also attended by Verzosa.
Medina went on to stress that she and Verzosa are okay, adding that she wants to put the issue to rest.
"I want to put an end to this, ayaw ko nang lumala pa nang lumala kasi we are friends ever since."
In "Los Bastardos," Medina plays the role of Isay, the wife of lead character Isagani which is portrayed by Verzosa's boyfriend, Jake Cuenca.
Verzosa denied rumors that she spat on Medina because she was jealous of her kissing scenes with Cuenca in the series.
"Sila pong dalawa, they never gave me a reason to feel bad or to feel na mainggit. Hindi po, friends po kaming tatlo," she said.
While she is relieved that the spitting issue has been addressed, Verzosa admitted that she felt hurt in the process.
'NOT UNDER MY CONTROL'
Meanwhile, Medina also took the opportunity to explain the blind item shared by her cousin, host Dianne Medina, about the incident involving her and Verzosa.
The Miss Universe Philippines 2016 winner explained that she has no control over her family's reactions, but she nevertheless apologized to Verzosa on their behalf.
"That time right after, sobrang masama ang loob ko kasi hindi ko naman ini-expect," Medina recalled in an interview after the press conference. "So ako naman very private akong tao, hindi ako nag-aano (post) sa social media. So nagkuwentuhan lang kami ng mom ko. Sabi ko, 'Ma, tama ba 'yon?'"
"And then eventually... lahat sila parang nagalit na. So it's not under my control anymore, although sinabihan ko na rin naman [sila]. And Ate Dianne knows it....
"So pasensiya na. Pasensiya na, sorry," Medina told Verzosa, who was right beside her.
Verzosa, for her part, admitted that she was hurt not because of Medina, but because of the statements of her cousin Dianne.
In the end, the two beauty queens said that they are still friends and are willing to work together again in the future.
