Miss Philippines Earth 2017 Karen Ibasco has a message for those who remain skeptical about global warming, including U.S. President Donald Trump, who once dubbed it as a hoax.

Speaking on "Tonight with Boy Abunda" on Thursday, Ibasco, a physicist who joined the Miss Earth Philippines pageant, said: "We just want to tell him that, if it's not happening in front of you, it doesn't mean it's not happening around the world --because it is."

The beauty queen added: "You can truly see it around you. The data are real and they're not fake. The Earth is warming, the ice is melting, the sea level is rising."

Long before becoming U.S. president, Trump tweeted that global warming is an "expensive hoax" and a concept "created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive."

He has since refrained from making such comments, even when he announced his decision on the Paris Accord, describing himself as "someone who cares deeply about the environment."
