MANILA -- Beautiful Destinations founder and CEO Jeremy Jauncey has officially welcomed his girlfriend, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) family.
The two appeared in a "fundraising hour" for WWF-Philippines on Wednesday to talk about sustainable living.
Toward the end of the virtual session, Jauncey announced that Wurtzbach has been named an ambassador for WWF-Philippines.
"It's been amazing talking with you, it always is, and being able to talk about a passion that we care about and supporting WWF," said Jauncey, who has been a WWF-US ambassador since 2018.
"Starting today, Pia is officially joining the Panda family," he added.
Wurtzbach, for her part, thanked Jauncey for being a "big influence" when it comes to environmental advocacy.
"I always want to use my platform as a public figure to campaign for relevant issues. And with the pandemic showing us that planetary health is deeply connected with human health, I think it's high time for us to acknowledge that our actions do affect the planet and everyone around us," said Wurtzbach, who was tapped by WWF-Philippines early this year for three fundraisers.
The former Miss Universe went on: "I hope you guys would continue to support me in this new journey of growth the same way you did when I brought home the crown for the country."
Other WWF-Philippines ambassadors also welcomed Wurtzbach through a pre-recorded clip shown during the Facebook live session. Seen in the video were actresses Iza Calzado and Janine Gutierrez, hosts Marc Nelson and Rovilson Fernandez, and Miss Earth 2017 Karen Ibasco.
Wurtzbach and Jauncey officially confirmed their relationship last June by appearing on the cover of Tatler Philippines.
