MANILA -- No, Filipino fans of Dunkin' will not have to suddenly look for another favorite store to get their donut fix.

This, after the local franchisee of the Dunkin' Brands Inc., Golden Donuts, Inc., clarified that it will not be closing down hundreds of stores in the country, as some might have mistakenly thought.

The confusion was due to people sharing news about the closure of 450 Dunkin' stores in the US, but using photos of the storefronts of Dunkin' branches in the Philippines.

Regarding the news of Dunkin' closing down 450 stores in the US, while true, it is no cause of alarm for those who love the company.

It is because the stores closing are all located in Speedway gas stations, and was a result of Dunkin' terminating its partnership with the company that acquired these gas stations in 2014.

Dunkin' US has also said that this decision will help support its efforts to focus on its larger standalone cafes.
