ILOILO -- Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC) recently opened its third mall in Iloilo province, Robinsons Place Pavia. It is the mall chain's 49th mall in the country and also the first to have its own water playground.
Robinsons' first two malls in Iloilo are located in Jaro and downtown Iloilo City.
Pavia, located between Iloilo International Airport and the city center, is an agro-industrial site that is being developed as the new business and commercial district of Iloilo. The mall is located along the Old Iloilo-Capiz Road, the main highway that connects the airport to the city, and is lined with commercial buildings, malls, restaurants, office buildings, and hotels.
“When we first bought this property, many were asking, why Pavia? We already have two malls in Iloilo, one in downtown and one in Jaro. Many people are not aware where Pavia is or what’s here. We felt very strongly that Pavia has its own trade market that it is strategically located near the gateway of Iloilo. Because of this, we have a captive market that we are able to tap for this new mall,” explained RLC Commercial Centers Division general manager Arlene Magtibay.
The new mall has a total of three floors and more than 27,000 sqm. of retail space. It was designed by WV Coscolluela and Associate Architects and follows a very modern design, using earth tones contrasted by white and pops of colors like red, Robinsons Malls' signature color.
As an ode to Pavia and its agricultural industry, carabao-shaped plant boxes greet shoppers at the entrance doors. Playful food-themed seating areas are spread throughout the mall using benches shaped like donuts. Geometric shapes and lines adorn the ceiling highlighted by LED lights.
Robinsons Place Pavia houses the usual RLC affiliate brands like Robinsons Department Store, Robinsons Appliances, Robinsons Supermarket, Handyman, Daiso Japan, and Robinsons Bank. It has six state-of-the-art cinemas operated by Robinsons Movieworld and a spacious Food Gallery with various food selections.
Aside from Robinsons signature brands, the mall also houses local and international retail and restaurant brands. Japanese fast-fashion retailer Uniqlo is set to open a sprawling shop, while other international brands like Mango, Levi's, Vans, among others, will also open shop soon.
It's also complete with local brands like Bench, Penshoppe, National Book Store, Jollibee, Mang Inasal, Chowking, and many more.
There are also Visayas-based brands that opened shop like Ribshack, Byron's Backribs, Chicken Deli, C's Bakeshop, all originated from Bacolod. There's also Lechon Haus from Cebu. Then, there are other stores from different parts of the country like Eyebrowse Optical, which is based in Davao.
“When we were planning this mall, we made sure that there is something new we can offer to our shoppers. So aside from the usual Robinsons shops that you would find like our supermarket, our department store, appliances, Handyman, Daiso, Southstar Drug, and even Robinsons Bank. We brought a lot here so that your shopping experience would be very enjoyable,” Magtibay shared.
OPENING SOON: AQUAFUN
But what makes this mall unique is it is the first ever mall in the country to have its own water playground. AquaFun is water playground situated in front of the mall. It sits on a 3,500-sqm space that features 12 different water attractions.
“It's a water playground and the center piece is the wet area, it consists of sprinklers, spouts, showers, mists, and pool playground. It's a wading pool that is only six inches deep just enough to create a splash after the children slide. It's really for kids six to 10 years old,” explained RLC New Bsuinesses director Darwin Renolayan.
The water playground, which will open soon, also has 10 cabanas for rent, an events area, and shower rooms. Just outside the small water park are food stalls. For a whole day access, entrance fee is at P300 on weekdays and P400 on weekends. All guests must wear proper swimming attire.
“We had executives that went to Singapore Zoo and they have a water playground there. That's the inspiration for this. It's a different way of having fun,” Renolayan said.
The playground can accommodate up to 350 kids at a time. Children six years old and below must be accompanied by an adult. But Robinsons made sure that the playground is safe, using a rubberized flooring material at the wet area and attendants available to assist customers.
“This is an additional reason for families to go to the mall. It is also a compelling reason to visit Pavia and aside from that, we want Pavia to be the new regional mall in Iloilo province. Here in Iloilo we noticed that families tend to gather during weekends spend their whole day outside. Like 'yung mga resorts here fully booked every weekend. So they like going out on weekends. We hope that Ilonggo kids will find this as their new playground, he said.
Aside from AquaFun, a standalone McDonalds restaurant will open at the front of the mall.
And to make sure easy access to the mall, Robinsons Place Pavia also has its own transport terminal that operates from from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. It is used by taxis, jeepneys, and buses that cover routes of nearby cities and municipalities like Roxas/Kalibo via Calinog, Tapaz, Dumalag, Bingawan, and others.
