MANILA – Lea Salonga has taken her final bow in the Broadway revival of “Once on This Island.”
The Tony Award winner became emotional after her last performance as Erzulie, the goddess of love, as seen in a video posted on the musical’s Facebook page.
The audience can be heard chanting “Lea! Lea!” in the background as Salonga was hugged by her fellow cast members.
Shortly after the show, Salonga gave a message to all her fans.
“To all of my fans that have been incredibly supportive since the very beginning of this journey, thank you all so very much from the bottom of my heart. The audiences that have come have been nothing but generous and kind, and they’ve been giving us so much life,” she said.
Salonga went on to say that “Once on This Island” is a musical “that will have my heart forever.”
“Hopefully our paths will cross again wherever my journeys will take me. I love you all,” she said.
Early this month, Salonga was voted Best Featured Actress in a Musical by readers of Broadway World for her performance in “Once on This Island.”
