MANILA – The 10th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition (PIPC) will no longer be held at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
Instead, the competition will take place at SM City Clark in Angeles City, Pampanga from February 23 to March 30.
In a statement released on its Facebook page on Tuesday, SM Supermalls cited the ongoing Manila Bay cleanup as the reason behind the change of venue.
“In full support of the ongoing Manila Bay Rehabilitation Program of the DENR (Department of Environment and Natural Resources), SM Supermalls will move the 10th PIPC from SM Mall of Asia to SM Clark,” the statement read.
“We seek the public’s support and understanding as we strive to still provide the same enjoyment as we have over the years.”
Early this week, DENR said the massive cleanup of Manila Bay is expected to bring a “drastic change” in its polluted waters within at least six months.
Tons of garbage have been carted off by thousands of volunteers and government workers from the bay since the cleanup started last January 27.
