MANILA - One of the sheltered horses rescued on volcano island in Batangas following Taal's steam-driven eruption last January has given birth to healthy female foal.
On Facebook, the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) said that "Susan" gave birth on Friday morning.
"We named her Starlight Glimmer (nickname: Starla)," the group said
The photo has been shared over 300 times and gained over 7,000 reactions since it was uploaded on Facebook on Friday.
PAWS had helped rescue animals left behind on volcano island after Taal's eruption triggered massive evacuations.
On Jan. 23, one of the 43 animals rescued by PAWS died from severe respiratory problems and pneumonia.
PAWS said "Princess" survived 5 days without food and water.
Alert Level 3 remains in place in Taal as the volcano's main crater continues to emit steam-laden plumes rising 200 to 300 meters high, the state seismology bureau said.
