The look on everybody's faces belie the tragic comedy that was unfolding right before the eyes of everyone.

In a bizarre series of twists, the leaders of the House of Representatives jostled for the position of Speaker right in front of national television, delaying the delivery of President Duterte's third State of the Nation Address.

The look on the lawmakers' faces watching the unfolding drama speak a thousand words.

Even the President bared a different face as he propounded on his administration's achievement with nary a single curse.

But outside the halls of Congress, the look on people's faces carried a different tone. While pro-Duterte supporters cheered every part of the SONA, the expressions did not mask the message of agony, fear and hatred that the Anti-Duterte protesters were carrying.

The protest carried messages that bared questions to a two-year regime that has challenged norms of justice and human dignity.

For them, it was tragic but it was not comedy.
