MANILA -- A collapsed roof of an elementary school and a row of toppled trees were what greeted "It's Showtime" host Vice Ganda, as he visited Oriental Mindoro this Friday.
The province had just been battered by typhoon Tisoy, one of the worst storms to hit the country this year, and Vice Ganda saw firsthand the trail of destruction that it left.
But according to the comedian, one would not have been able to guess that some of the people who greeted him had just lost their homes judging from their huge smiles.
Vice Ganda shared heartwarming pictures from his visit on Instagram, and he wrote: "May kapangyarihan ang NGITI."
"Sa simpleng ngiti gagaan ang lahat. Kakayanin natin ang lahat hangga't kaya nating ngumiti. 'Di alintana sa mga mukha ng mga taga Pinamalayan, Mindoro ang bagyo ng kahapon."
"Kaya nilang ngumiti. Kayang kaya mo din."
Officials have said that of the 9 people who were killed by typhoon Tisoy, 5 were found in Oriental Mindoro.
On "It's Showtime" this Saturday, Vice Ganda said that he had to take a chopper just to reach Pinamalayan.
