MANILA — Vhong Navarro resumed his hosting duties on “It’s Showtime” on Friday, a week after his wedding with his long-time partner, Tanya Bautista.
Navarro exchanged vows with Bautista in a private ceremony in Kyoto, Japan on November 28, after more than a decade of being together.
Returning to “It’s Showtime,” Navarro opened the noontime program with a wedding-themed number, before being greeted by his co-hosts on the personal milestone.
Asked for his message to his wife, Navarro said: “Mahal, salamat. Tanya, maraming salamat sa pagtanggap at pag-stay sa akin sa maraming pinagdaanan natin sa buhay.”
Over the years, Navarro and Bautista have managed to keep their relationship private, despite the TV star’s high-profile job and the latter being a resident writer of ABS-CBN.
The exception was in 2014, when Navarro figured in a controversy that led to court battles with businessman Cedric Lee and model Deniece Cornejo.
At the time, Bautista became a visible figure who, despite not granting interviews, provided a strong support system for the then-embattled actor.
“Isa sa wish ni Daddy, noong nabubuhay pa, ikaw ang makasama ko habang buhay, at natupad natin ‘yon,” Navarro said on Friday.
He went on: “Sa family mo, salamat din po dahil hindi niyo ‘ko iniwan. Sa family ko, salamat din dahil tinanggap niyo kami nang buong-buo ni Tanya. “
“Mahal, ikaw na, habang buhay. I love you.”
