MANILA -- Did you know that Nyoy Volante created his hit song, “Nasaan,” in the bathroom?
The singer-songwriter made this funny revelation in an interview on “Tonight with Boy Abunda,” saying that the lyrics came to him as he was looking for soap while taking a shower.
“As a songwriter kasi, merong mga pumapasok na tono na matatandaan mo… So I was humming that particular tune pero wala pa siyang words. Then I took a bath, tapos hindi ko makita ‘yung sabon. I was still humming then [I said] ‘nasaan ka na,’ hinahanap ko ‘yung sabon and then sabi ko, ‘uy, maganda ‘yun ah,’” he recalled.
“Labas kaagad ako [ng banyo], nakatuwalya lang ako noon, basang-basa pa ako,” he added. “I had to record it kasi sandali lang mawawala ‘yun sa utak mo eh… Hindi na ako nag-waste ng time just to record that particular line. And ‘Nasaan’ was born, dahil sa sabon.”
When asked about his other popular song, “Someday,” Volante admitted that it was based on “something personal.”
“Nangyari naman talaga sa akin ‘yun,” he said. “But it’s an anthem – an anthem for people who deserve someone better. Kasi ang daming ganung kuwento na mahal na mahal mo ‘yung boyfriend or girlfriend mo, pero hindi ka tinatrato nang mas maayos. Eventually napagod ka na lang and you’ll say na, ‘Alam mo balang araw, may magmamahal sa akin the way I deserve to be loved.’”
Meanwhile, Volante hopes to release a new album soon, revealing that he has written a few songs, including one that is dedicated to his wife.
