It seems the second time's the charm.
"Sonic the Hedgehog," a new live-action movie starring the world's most popular blue hedgehog, has a brand new trailer out showing a redesign of the title character.
The movie was originally scheduled to hit theaters in November but had to change its release date amid widespread criticism over the way Sonic looked.
"The message is loud and clear... you aren't happy with the design & you want changes. It's going to happen," director Jeff Fowler said in a tweet last May.
The redesign now shows a more cartoonish Sonic with larger eyes, a rounder face, a less human-like mouth and with his characteristic white gloves on.
Based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega, Sonic the Hedgehog tells the story of the world’s speediest hedgehog as he embraces his new home on Earth.
In this live-action adventure comedy, Sonic and his new best friend Tom (James Marsden) team up to defend the planet from the evil genius Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and his plans for world domination. The family-friendly film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
Sonic The Hedgehog hits Philippine cinemas February 2020.
