Vice Ganda and his first-time leading men Dingdong Dantes and Richard Gutierrez go hilariously off-character in the first teaser of “Fantastica,” as they engage in real-life network wars along with screen veteran Jaclyn Jose.
In the teaser of the Metro Manila Film Festival entry released Sunday morning, Vice Ganda and Jose are introduced as the owners of a carnival dubbed “Perya Wurtzbach” (after the Pinay Miss Universe queen).
Dantes plays a businessman intent on buying the land where the carnival stands, while Gutierrez portrays a prince, apparently from another realm, who helps save Perya Wurtzbach from the clutches of corporate greed.
In a three-way face-off among the characters of Vice Ganda, Dantes and Gutierrez, the three channel their real-life situations as contract artists of rival networks.
“Kapatid ka!” Vice Ganda blurts out, referring to Dantes belonging to a group of leather jacket-wearing henchmen.
“Hindi ako Kapatid! Kapuso ako!” Dantes retorts, using the terms for the talents of TV networks TV5 and GMA-7, respectively.
Jose’s character raises her hand, echoing Dantes, “Ako rin, Kapuso.”
Siding with Vice Ganda, Gutierrez then goes, “Kapamilya ako, na dating Kapuso, at Kapatid” — a reference to his career movements over the years.
As in past record-breaking movies of Vice Ganda, “Fantastica” also features a spoof of recent blockbusters, this time KathNiel-starrer “The Hows of Us,” as seen in the teaser.
“Fantastica,” a co-production of Star Cinema and Viva Films, hits cinemas nationwide on Christmas Day. It also stars Maymay Entrata, Edward Barber, Loisa Andalio, Ronnie Alonte, Kisses Delavin, Donny Pangilinan, Ryan Bang, and Bela Padilla.
