MANILA -- Ethel Booba did not dare weigh in on the warring Barretto sisters, when the controversial feud was brought up during her stage banter as a Tawag ng Tanghalan finalist.
The comedienne was trading jokes with host Vice Ganda, her long-time friend and comedy bar contemporary, on a range of topics, from vlogging, her love life, to Vice President Leni Robredo’s new role as drug war co-chair.
The current biggest issue in local showbiz came up, too, with Vice Ganda asking Ethel Booba what she would say to sisters Gretchen and Marjorie Barretto should she meet them.
“Si Duterte nga hindi napigilan, ako pa kaya? Baka sapakin ako! ‘Ano ba pakialam mo dito?’ Ako pa? Pangkaraniwang tao lang ako. Presidente nga hindi naawat!”
Ethel Booba was referring to the October 16 scuffle during the wake of Barretto patriarch Miguel, where President Rodrigo Duterte sought to mediate between Gretchen and Marjorie, but to no avail.
“Sino mataas? Quiboloy?” Ethel Booba then said, referring to Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, the head of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ group.
Quiboloy made headlines last week after he claimed to have stopped the recent Mindanao quakes, telling followers that they should be grateful to him for preventing more damage and deaths.
Vice Ganda, in the Tuesday episode of “It’s Showtime,” made light of the pastor’s controversial statement, challenging him, in jest, to stop the long-running teleserye “Ang Probinsyano” as well as the notorious traffic along EDSA.
