MANILA—The first trailer for "The Art of Ligaw" was released this past week, giving a glimpse not only of the cute plot about a guy who has never courted a girl his whole life, but also of the acting skills of singer KZ Tandingan, who has never acted her entire life.
The premise of the movie is that Jake (Quizon), a 40-something man, has yet to meet a woman that makes him want to take out to dinner, or to walk home. All of his relationships have been in the realm of casual, and it appears he has never been made to work for them.
Until Carisse (Tandingan), that is, a young woman who seems confused by the idea of "ligaw" as well.
The romantic comedy is Tandingan's first acting venture, and she acknowledged in an interview that she was terrified to take it on.
"Pero I always tell myself na you'll never grow in your comfort zone. So noong sinabi nila sa akin na I was given this opportunity to be part of this movie, tumalon ako sa bangin knowing na ando'n sila to guide me," she said.
Directed by Jourdan Sebastian, "The Art of Ligaw" is set to debut Nov. 13.
