MANILA - Kapamilya stars took to social media to welcome Regine Velasquez, following the announcement that she will be joining "ASAP: Live in Sydney" this month.
Velasquez posted the concert variety program’s poster for the international show on her Instagram account on Saturday, a day after ABS-CBN made the announcement.
"See you guys in Sydney," Velasquez wrote.
Her friends in the industry, including Sharon Cuneta, welcomed her to the Kapamilya variety program.
Cuneta also took to Instagram to welcome Velasquez to her "home."
"My Songbird and I now live in the same home!!! Woohoo!! Welcome, my Regine," she wrote.
Other "ASAP" mainstays, Kim Chiu, Angeline Quinto and KZ Tandingan, expressed their joy at the newest addition to the roster of artists performing at the show in Sydney.
Velasquez has been identified with GMA-7 for a greater part of her three-decade career. Along with now-Kapamilya stars Ogie Alcasid, Jaya, and Janno Gibbs, Velasquez was among the mainstays of the network’s now-defunct concert variety show “SOP.”
“SOP,” which ran for 13 years until 2010, was for a time the direct rival program of “ASAP.”
No further announcement has been made as to Velasquez’s future appearances in ABS-CBN after “ASAP: Live in Sydney.”
