Senate President Tito Sotto marked the 50th anniversary of his marriage to actress Helen Gamboa, as they renewed their wedding vows at Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish in Batangas, an article of entertainment site Push said.
"Tinutupad ko pa lang yung pangako ko 50 years ago na mamahalin ko siya habang-buhay," Sotto told radio DZMM.
On Instagram, Quezon City Vice Mayor Gian Sotto said Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish was the same church where his parents exchanged "I dos" after they had eloped.
The Senate President confirmed that, saying he and Gamboa wanted to marry before a judge in Batangas prior to their actual wedding but the judge failed to appear.
"May kilala kaming pari du'n sa tabi (Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish). Nagpakasal kami sa pari," Sotto said.
The senator said he sent invitation cards for their golden anniversary that jokingly said: "Samahan niyo kami sa pagcecelebrate ng 50 taong pagtitiis ni Helen sa akin." (Join us in celebrating 50 years of Helen being patient with me.)
