MANILA—Needless to say that after every season of "The Voice Kids," people are going to celebrate its winner. But what about those who lost, most especially those who bowed out early on?

A boy who joined the competition last season gave viewers this Saturday a better understanding of the risks that come with pursuing one's dreams of fame at a young age.

According to Cyd Pangca, who tried out for "The Voice Kids" in 2016 but exited during the season's Battle Rounds, he found himself being bullied at school for failing.

Pangca, 11, shared that he was hurt by the reaction of his classmates, though he quickly learned, he said, to use the worst of the insults as motivation.

He was also lucky enough to have parents who tirelessly told him to just keep practicing and maybe try again.

He did so and the result of his perseverance was becoming the only three-chair turner of the episode. He sang "Pangarap Na Bituin."

Coach Sarah Geronimo said that what surprised her most about Pangca's story was his determination, saying: "Hindi ka nagpatalo doon sa mga sinasabi nila sa iyo."

Bamboo promised Pangca that he'll help him "silence" his bullies.

Pangca, however, went with Lea Salonga, who told off the bullies by making a case about how difficult it was to just stand on "The Voice Kids" stage, let alone pass the blind audition.

"Na-realize ba nila kung gaano kahirap ang makapasok, just to stand there, ang hirap. To get even one of us to turn, ang hirap," the Broadway star asked.

Pangca was the second addition to Salonga's team on the night, with the other being Rhaizen Rosales.
