MANILA – Filipina singer Ivy Grace Paredes was forced to end her "The X Factor UK" journey after she failed to get a US visa, a British newspaper reported.
According to a report by The Sun, Paredes had to withdraw from the competition "after she was refused a visa she needed to travel to Los Angeles to film that part of the show."
Citing sources, The Sun said Paredes' application "was rejected point blank over an issue in her past."
It added that "The X Factor UK" tried to help Paredes, "but ran out of time."
Paredes, a 33-year-old from Malaybalay, Bukidnon, was about to progress to the Judges Houses round in "The X Factor UK," according to The Sun.
During the recently aired Boot Camp round of the show, she performed Mariah Carey's "One Sweet Day" with Mike Hough and Lascel Wood, impressing the judges.
Paredes previously said she was inspired to try her luck in "The X Factor UK" after watching the Filipino girl group 4th Impact.
Prior to joining "The X Factor UK," Paredes joined a talent contest in the Philippines.
