MANILA — Fresh from his breakup with Julia Barretto and with a new love team partner in Janella Salvador, Joshua Garcia preferred to go alone to the ABS-CBN Ball on Saturday, despite both women being present at the fundraising event.
Before making his red-carpet entrance, Garcia was asked how he felt to return to the annual ball but this time without a date.
“Looking forward ako na mas mag-e-enjoy ako tonight,” he said.
When asked whether he thought of inviting someone as a date, Garcia answered: “Wala akong inaya ngayong ball na ‘to. Wala akong masabi. Basta happy ako na nandito ako ngayon na mag-isa.”
While initially evasive, Garcia eventually gave a response to whether he is happier being single.
“Depende sa tao, pero ako, masarap pareho, e. Masarap na may minamahal ka, at masarap maging single,” he said.
Garcia, whose relationship with Barretto had been the subject of rumors and controversy in the past four months, also expressed gratitude to fans who remained supportive of him despite the intrigues.
“I love you all. Maraming salamat sa mga sumusuporta sa akin na hindi bumitaw at lagi akong chini-cheer,” he said.
