MANILA -- Iza Calzado brought her husband, businessman Ben Wintle, to his first ABS-CBN Ball on Saturday, marking the first time the veteran actress walked the annual event's red carpet as a married woman.
"It's his first time to be my date for the ball," the actress said. "He's been very patient."
Calzado turned heads with her wine-hued Filipiniana gown that bore silver-dipped butterfly sleeves, while the Booky boss looked dapper in his grayish-blue barong and his signature bedimpled smile.
Calzado said though her husband's looks pass the entertainment industry's standards, the tech boss has never been interested in joining show business.
"Hindi talaga siya pang ganun. Hindi niya hilig," the actress said.
"He's a businessman. He's quite serious. He doesn't like waiting around," she said.
Wintle, who tied the knot with the "Pandanggo sa Hukay" actress in December 2018, said he did not feel any jitters over his first ABS-CBN Ball experience.
"I'm good. I played some tennis, had some food to eat first," he said.
Calzado assured her husband that they will have a good time at the ball meant to raise funds for Bantay Bata 163.
"Ako naman wala nang nerbiyos sa ganito. This is the time to have fun, enjoy," she said.
"We are doing this for a very good cause... so it's a good day to celebrate," she said.
