MANILA -- Juan Karlos Labajo promised to release an album this year.
The young artist revealed his plans in an interview with Push published Sunday, adding that it will also feature rapper Gloc-9.
The currently untitled album will be Labajo's first full-length record since admitting that he's tired of singing covers, and that he wants to create music he can truly call his own.
It also comes a year after the release of "Buwan," widely regarded as one of the best new OPM songs to come out recently.
According to Labajo, he and his band composed all the songs in the upcoming album. Though he added that he's unsure if whether this meant that he got to retain his style, which is heavily inspired by the art of the kundiman, or not. "Even I don't know everything like if it’s going to sound like me at all," he teased.
Labajo's last album "JKL" was released in 2017. It followed his debut effort, "JK," in 2015.
He first rose to fame after his stint on the original season of "The Voice Kids," where he finished as one of the grand finalists.
