MANILA — Despite its Restricted-16 (R-16) rating, the romance film “Just A Stranger” has attracted long lines at the box office and in fact crossed a milestone in nationwide gross on Sunday.
On Instagram on Monday, star Marco Gumabao shared the good news: the Viva Films production has so far earned P100 million, after 12 days in cinemas.
“We made it!” he wrote. “Lord you are amazing. Thank you!”
His co-star, Anne Curtis, commented on the post, saying: “Congratulations to us, JekJek. I mean, Jericho.”
Curtis was referring to Gumabao’s character in the film by Jason Paul Laxamana, which centers on two strangers who start an affair despite both being in relationships.
“Just A Stranger” marks Curtis’ return to her sexy drama roots, after back-to-back genre projects, the urban action flick “BuyBust” and the horror movie “Aurora.”
