MANILA — Dennis Padilla has repeatedly reached out to Gerald Anderson following the controversy surrounding the actor’s ties with his daughter Julia Barretto, but has only been met with silence.
The comedian said he has sent four consecutive text messages to Anderson, but has yet to get a response.
Padilla got candid on the topic in the August 28 episode of “Tonight with Boy Abunda,” when asked whether he has a message for Anderson.
“Naka-apat na text na ako doon, e. Hindi siya sumasagot,” he said.
Addressing Anderson, Padilla added: “Sagutin mo naman ‘yung text ko.”
Prior to the unanswered text messages, Padilla did have a phone conversation with Anderson at the height of the controversy, he confirmed.
Noting he was the one who initiated the contact, Padilla shared, “May niliwanag lang ako sa kaniya.”
“Sabi ko, ‘Pinapaalala ko sa ‘yo, anak ko si Julia Barretto,” he recalled telling Anderson.
Anderson was Barretto’s first-time co-star in the romance film “Between Maybes,” released early this year. Their relationship became the subject of rumors after Anderson’s breakup with his girlfriend of three years, actress Bea Alonzo.
Both Anderson and Barretto have denied being involved romantically. They also clarified that their respective breakups — Anderson with Alonzo, and Barretto with Joshua Garcia — had nothing to do with each other.
Padilla, in his interview aired Wednesday, was also asked for a message for Garcia, with whom Barretto was paired onscreen starting in 2016, leading to their real-life romance.
“Nakilala kita,” Padilla told Garcia. “Pormal kang humarap sa akin, kaya ginagalang kita. Kung paano mo ako nirespeto, ganoon din kita nirirespeto.”
