MANILA — In a scene that’s gone viral on social media, Janella Salvador’s Emma is “possessed” by the ghost of Camila, the titular character portrayed by Maja Salvador, in the hit primetime drama “The Killer Bride.”

The scene, aired in the August 20 episode of the RCD Narratives production, has so far been viewed more than 4 million times on YouTube and Facebook.

The mysterious Emma was invited by Camila’s grandmother, Guada (Aurora Sevilla), into the dela Torre home after being convinced she was indeed a “vessel” of her late granddaughter. As a way of showing remorse for abandoning Camila, who had been accused of murder before dying in a jail fire, Guada sought to build a relationship with Emma, and by extension, Camila.

Luciano (Cris Villanueva), who despised his niece Camila, was skeptical of Emma’s claim of possession — until their confrontation, where she managed to dredge up details of a conversation only Camila would know.

Janella, as Emma, is soft-spoken and innocent, but as Emma “possessed” by Camila, is unflinching and sharp with words.

According to Janella, her acting as “Camila” was the result of a workshop and close collaboration with Maja, her real-life distant aunt and first-time co-star.

“That’s one of the things that we worked on in the workshop. Siyempre may kailangan na makita ang audience na piece of Maja sa akin,” Janella told ABS-CBN News during a recent media conference for the series.

With Maja’s character apparently dead as early as the first week, her appearances in the succeeding episodes have been limited to “apparitions” as the ghost Camila.

While Maja is billed as a lead actress of the gothic romance, some viewers have asked whether her sparse scenes in “The Killer Bride” so far translate to Camila being a supporting character.

“I don’t mind kung maging support ako, kasi maganda ang kuwento ng ‘The Killer Bride,’” Maja said prior to the premiere of the series. “Minsan hindi mo naman kailangan pumili ng role, gawin mo lang nang maayos, and kung makakatulong at ikakaganda ng kuwento, bakit hindi?”

“Masaya ako for Janella, kasi it’s her time to shine. Time naman niya ngayon. Excited ako sa maipapakita ni Janella,” she said.
