MANILA — Marco Gumabao did not hesitate to admit that he once cheated during a past relationship and even addressed his former partner to apologize in a televised interview.
Gumabao was asked about the topic in the August 18 episode of “Gandang Gabi Vice,” in light of the premise of his upcoming movie with Anne Curtis, “Just A Stranger.”
In the Jason Paul Laxamana film, which is scheduled for an August 21 release, Gumabao and Curtis portray strangers who meet in Portugal and start an affair, despite both being in committed relationships.
“Aaminin ko, yes, nakapag-cheat na ako sa ex ko. I’m not proud of it, pero aminado naman ako na nagkamali ako before,” he said.
Turning to look directly at the camera, Gumabao continued: “Doon sa ex ko, I’m very, very sorry.”
“Mali talaga,” Gumabao stressed, when asked by host Vice Ganda if there is ever a valid reason to cheat on a partner.
Bringing up the story of “Just A Stranger,” Gumabao then said, “Pero may circumstances na, for example, this person, hindi na niya nakukuha ‘yung love na gusto niya or ‘yung affection from the other person, pero wala silang magawa dahil kasal sila.”
Curtis was also made to answer similar questions, and admitted that in her younger years, she was once in a “gray area” where the recency of a breakup made her feel that she cheated when she started seeing someone new.
