MANILA—The stakes have never been higher as this week, as it turns out, is the final hurdle that the 6 remaining hopefuls need to jump to get into the grand finals of "Idol Philippines."
Only one will be eliminated before the "Final Showdown" next week --and to help determine that, they were asked to perform their chosen song from Gary Valenciano's discography.
Miguel Odron sang second and he delivered his rather muted rendition of "How Did You Know."
Vice Ganda reminded him that all the stress and sacrifices --he shared just how much he had to give up by moving to the Philippines from the US-- will be worth it once the contest is over.
Regarding his performance, the comedian said: "Iyong start mo napakaganda, iyong tahimik, kalmado, mahina iyong boses. Pero towards the end, naging uncomfortable ako listening to you . . . Hindi na-sustain iyong napakaganda na start."
He did note that he wants to see Odron in the finals.
James Reid pointed out that the stress of the competition may have begun taking a toll on Odron.
Regine Velasquez said that what held the performance back was his hesitation to show off his vulnerable side: "You have such a beautiful voice and like what Vice said, I want to see you in the finals."
Hosted by Billy Crawford, "Idol Philippines" airs Saturdays after "Home Sweetie Home" and Sundays after "Wansapanataym."
