MANILA — "Ang ganda ng suot ni Anne Curtis, pinaghawak ng mic!"
That's how Vice Ganda summarized an unexpected source of humor during the Binibining Pilipinas pageant Sunday night, as he teased Curtis over the trending moment that saw her holding up a microphone for a candidate for the entire duration of her Q&A turn. (See the 5:42 mark in the video below.)
A glamorous Curtis, who co-hosted the coronation night with Richard Gutierrez, would hand her microphone to each of the 15 candidates during the crucial portion. All, but one, took the mic to answer their respective question from a judge.
Sorsogon bet Maria Isabela Galeria appeared oblivious to Curtis' gesture of giving the mic, even as the superstar audibly said, "Here you go."
"Ngalay na si ate," Curtis' sister, actress Jasmine, tweeted during the live telecast — one of many amused reactions on Twitter to the onstage moment.
On the Tuesday episode of "It's Showtime," which Curtis co-hosts with Vice Ganda, the comedian joked that her "bulol" or tongue-tied moments that day were due to exhaustion from being Galeria's mic assistant the night prior.
Vice Ganda, a self-confessed pageant superfan, then had Curtis re-enact the moment, with him as Miss Sorsogon, with both hands on his hips.
"Feeling ko kinabahan lang siya, hindi na niya naisip," a laughing Curtis said, before congratulating Galeria on her top 15 finish.
