MANILA—Loisa Andalio shared an experience from a not-so-distant past that she thinks helped her to become strong.
During the press conference for the digital series “Past Present Future” on Tuesday, Andalio acknowledged that her parents recently separated.
“ ’Yung parents ko hiwalay na sila. Bago lang, nu’ng March lang. Masakit siya pero parang tinuruan akong maging matibay bilang ako ’yung breadwinner sa family namin,” she said.
Despite this, Andalio took it upon herself to not show her family she was affected.
“Hindi ko puwede ipakita sa family ko na apektado ako. Pero ’yun ’yung nagpapa-strong sa akin ngayon. Hindi ko puwede dalahin sa trabaho ’yung personal life ko,” she said.
Andalio added that she values her past so much because it helped shape the person she is now.
“Siyempre maraming matututunan talaga sa past kaya importante din ’yung past. Kung ano ka ngayon, dahil ’yun sa mga pinagdaanan mo, sa mga lesson na natutunan mo,” she said.
In “Past, Present, Perfect,” Andalio plays the past and younger version of Shantal, a high school student who uses her talent in secretly writing poems and declarations of love to her professor, Sir Daniel (Vin Abrenica).
As they become close because of their love for literature, Sir Daniel urges her to pursue her dream of becoming a writer.
Shantal’s world is turned upside down when she confesses her feelings for Sir Daniel and gets rejected at their graduation ball.
Shaina Magdayao plays the present-day Shantal, who is now a writer facing a major roadblock in her career.
She looks to her past — including her first love and heartbreak — to move forward in her present life.
