MANILA — Comedy superstar Vice Ganda on Thursday publicly appealed to lawmakers to address the mounting concerns over the anti-terrorism bill, which is being fast-tracked for passage into law.

The latest high-profile celebrity to amplify the #JunkTerrorBill campaign, Vice Ganda shared his personal take on the controversial measure, explaining why he is against it.

The Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020 has sparked online and public protests over its proposed sweeping powers, including warrantless arrests and wiretapping of suspected terrorists, and provisions in defining "terrorists," which critics say can be used to target even legitimate dissent against the administration.

The House of Representatives passed the bill on third and final reading on Wednesday. Since the bill is similar to the Senate version passed earlier this year, it's set to be sent to Malacañang for President Rodrigo Duterte's signature.
