MANILA -- The fan whose story inspired Ben&Ben’s new song, “Lifetime,” has thanked the band for “filling [her] heart with happiness.”
The song, based on the fan’s story of untold love between her and her best friend, was released Thursday, and it racked up nearly 700,000 views on YouTube alone in less than 24 hours.
Following this positive reception, Ben&Ben said that they got to talk again with the fan, who goes by the name “Anne Jou,” and shared a comment she made about the song.
“Thank you for allowing us to immortalize your story,” Ben&Ben told “Anne Jou.”
The tearjerking story of “Anne Jou” went that she has been in love with her best friend since they were in high school.
She wasn't able to tell him then, deciding to "bury" her feelings, afraid that they'll lose their friendship. Fast forward eight years later and she's attending his wedding, as a guest.
According to “Anne Jou,” it’s an “honor” to have her story be turned into a song by Ben&Ben.
“Thank you for being one of the main reasons why I still think the world is a beautiful place after all I experienced,” she told the band.
“It’s funny how Ben&Ben songs are somehow a paradox — listening to their song would break your heart but also console you at the time. It’s like the exact definition of pain with pleasure. …I really want to say that maybe, this is a way to show us that we may not get everything we want, but surely, there’s something best that’s waiting for us.
“I maybe broken but hey, at least I got some Ben&Ben song, right?”
